DIY Pantry Transformation Before
Here is our pantry “before” featuring builder-grade wire shelves.

I invested significant time investigating the finest pantry shelves and storage solutions. And I’m so pleased with how our DIY pantry transformation has come out! Excited to check it out?

DIY Pantry Makeover Expense Summary

I have already detailed cost analyses in this post and this post, but here is the overall total:
- Pantry Shelving: $217
- Pantry Containers: $540
- Tax: ~$53
- Pantry Makeover Total Expense: $810
For reference, the Elfa pantry I contemplated was over $1,400 just for shelves, containers not included.
Though I wouldn’t label this endeavor as inexpensive by any means, it proved to be a cost-effective alternative for us compared to a high-end shelving system or custom pantry. I am thoroughly satisfied with the blend of value and quality.

DIY Pantry Transformation Concepts
Here’s a summary of how I accomplished our DIY pantry transformation. I will provide links to all of my additional blog entries that offer more insights!
1. Substitute Wire Pantry Shelving

I initiated this DIY pantry transformation last month by swapping out our wire shelves.

Following an assessment of various alternatives, I selected budget-friendly track shelving from The Home Depot. Refer to the post for a cost breakdown and advice on new pantry shelf installation.
2. Paint Pantry Walls (or Apply Wallpaper)

As I was updating the shelves, I also decided to paint the interior of the pantry. I utilized Village Green by Behr in satin finish since I had some leftover from our powder bath. An alternative could be applying peel and stick wallpaper in your pantry. Here’s a stunning example from my friend Tiffany!
3. Enhance Pantry Containers and Organizers

To wrap up our pantry update, I investigated the top pantry storage containers and organizers. This encompassed cereal dispensers, airtight food storage containers, baskets, labels, etc. Check the post for a cost breakdown, along with tips regarding how much each container accommodates by volume or weight.
This endeavor has taken a month to materialize but it was worth it! I hope you found all of the blog entries beneficial and motivating.
