Unsure how to adorn your open concept dwelling? I’ve been in that position! Today I’m thrilled to collaborate with The Home Depot to present living room decoration concepts to create an area that you adore. Whether you wish to design your media unit, occupy an unused corner, or simply enhance the warmth of your area, I trust these suggestions will be useful.
Upon moving into our newly constructed home five years ago, I was grateful for a spacious living room at the heart of our residence. However, this also posed a challenge, as we would view it throughout the day. I wanted it to be both attractive and practical, but I lacked ideas on how to fill all the vacant space! Moreover, our television and media unit needed to be prominently displayed, which is a typical design challenge. After years of refinement, I have recently accomplished some of my long-term aspirations!

Living Room Decoration Concepts: The Before
Here are several images of our living room this spring. I have been enhancing this area over the years, and there was much to appreciate! Yet also aspects to improve.
What I appreciated:
- Soft white walls
- Recently painted media unit
- Window coverings
- Organic modern aesthetic
What I aimed to modify:
- Embellish the TV wall with picture frame molding
- Replace the light wood coffee table with a darker option
- Change the small lamps and decor on the media unit
- Assess the wall adjacent to the TV
- Revamp decor for a revitalized appearance
Living Room Decoration Concepts: DIY Wall Molding
I am inexperienced regarding DIY home endeavors involving power tools. Nonetheless, after witnessing multiple friends install their own wall molding, I desired to attempt it myself. I opted for picture frame molding because it is a timeless design and relatively straightforward to place.

I plan to publish a detailed article about how I installed the wall molding in the upcoming weeks, but I wanted to compile the items I utilized in case you’re prepared to embark on this undertaking! The Home Depot provided everything I required to transform our area and realize my vision.
Living Room Decor Inspirations: Signature Pieces
After the wall trim was put in place, I was eager to focus on our decor. Below are my living room decor inspirations to enhance your space with signature pieces.
1. Introduce Texture with a Large Tree
In my view, this is the ideal method to fill an empty corner in your living room. We previously had an olive tree, so I opted to change things up with this stunning artificial cherry blossom tree. The texture and motion it brings are exceptional!

2. Change Up Accent Tables
Encircled by white furnishings, our light timber coffee table wasn’t effective. I craved greater contrast! This walnut coffee table enhances the warmth of the living area while the turned spindle legs provide an artistic touch. Additionally, it came fully assembled, which is always a bonus for me.

I also included this vintage brass end table next to our couch. It is taller than our previous side table, which is an improvement, and the metal introduces contrast to the decor. Changing out accent tables is a fantastic method to refresh the appearance of your living area without needing to replace bulky furniture!

3. Have a Blank Wall? Consider an Oversized Mirror.
The wall molding created a significant enhancement, but I still aimed to discover a way to occupy the area to the left of our media console. Our home features archways throughout the main level, and I believed this 71″ x 32″ arched mirror was the ideal addition. My kids also enjoy making faces in it 😉 The mirror beautifully reflects our gallery wall! I can’t get enough of this scene.

Living Room Decorating Concepts: Accents and Storage
Once you’ve identified your key pieces and filled any vacant spots, it’s time to focus on accents. They are perfect for infusing warmth and personality, and The Home Depot offers an abundance of choices!
1. Elegantly Arrange a Coffee Table
I prefer to maintain my coffee table styling simple with a sizable vase and a collection of coffee table literature. This ceramic pitcher vase boasts wonderful texture and won’t topple if my kids bump into the table. Have you noticed that I cannot
deactivate my mother instincts?

2. Style Around Your Television
Concerning the media console, I chose to revamp it with a single large lamp. I have been admiring this oversized rattan table lamp for several months and was thrilled to incorporate it into our decor! Combining it with this empire shade established a retro aesthetic. A gray planter alongside a charcoal bowl complete the area below the TV, and I adore this wooden chain detail. Lastly, these decorative containers serve perfectly for remotes.

3. Introduce Comfort with Cushions and Throws
Is there any decor more enjoyable to hunt for than cushions? I’m fond of the fabric of these tasseled cushions, and this timeless plaid. This knotted fringe throw blanket was ideal for the back of our couch, and it also assists in keeping it tidy since our kitchen is just steps away!

4. Remember Storage
I completed the left side of the living room with an oversized basket for additional throws. Attractive baskets are my preferred way to conceal toys, slippers, and tablets throughout our residence. You might also experiment with combining two different baskets for a curated appearance.
