Valentine’s Day Gift Basket Concepts for Kids

One of my favorite activities during holidays for my kids is to assemble enjoyable gift baskets. An Easter basket always appeared so enchanting to me as a child, more than merely a collection of items.

To keep a Valentine’s basket affordable, I repurpose a simple basket and add a few items to create a special atmosphere for the day. A formula that some individuals utilize for gift-giving is:Want, Need, Wear, Read.I find this useful as a guideline when selecting gifts big and small! Here are some suggestions:

Want

First, the “want” category usually features the “wow” gift. This could be a plush toy, small gadget, board game, or beloved sweets for Valentine’s Day gift baskets.

For younger children, Cuddle and Kind dolls are a favored option. We have several of the small ones and they are so adorable and well-made! Squishmallows and Jellycat plush toys are also widely liked choices, even by older children.

For older kids, think about a logic game, athletic equipment, craft materials, or bath fizzers. Another excellent addition would be tickets for enjoyable experiences!

Need

Some “need” items to include in Valentine’s Day baskets for kids might be a new water bottle, school supplies, toothbrush and paste, fun bandaids, or other grooming items. Essentially, anything you would typically purchase, but can perhaps opt for a themed version for the occasion.

Wear

Spring is on the horizon, so new pajamas or outfits could be delightful Valentine’s Day gifts for children! Or think about adding a swimsuit, sunglasses, or hat if you have spring break travel plans coming up shortly.

Read

Lastly, I love to include a new book in Valentine’s Day gift baskets. There are just so many adorable themed books out there. Previously, I chose picture books, but now that my children are a bit older, I select a graphic novel or chapter book from a series they enjoy.

Here are some favorite Valentine’s books for themed baskets:

For my children’s Valentine’s gift baskets last year, I utilized these adorable foldable crates from Amazon. They arrive flat, and you simply snap them together.

That year, both my children were really into pop its, which serve as an affordable “wow” gift if your children enjoy them. I also added sunglasses, Pillowfort dolls, trivia cards for my son, a hair accessory for my daughter, and Valentine’s Day books.

Another year, I used 11″ rope baskets from Target that I already owned. To fill the bottom of the baskets, I used brown paper shred, but tissue paper would also work.

For fillers, I included a painting craft, pop fidget toys, a joke book for my son, an outfit for my daughter, and a selection of their favorite treats. Simple yet meaningful!
