Step-by-step directions to produce a DIY Faux Stained Glass Hummingbird Sun Catcher:
1. Paint or Stain the Outline
Coat the wooden outline in black for a stained glass effect, or stain it for a natural wood appearance. Allow it to dry thoroughly.
2. Apply Transfer Tape
Turn the outline face-down and affix paper transfer tape to the rear. Press firmly to ensure all open areas are sealed. I use a brayer to help adhere the transfer paper.
3. Add Crushed Glass
With the outline facing up, fill each section with the suitable crushed glass colors!
4. Add & Cure Resin
Gradually pour resin over the crushed glass to fill each section. Allow it to cure completely as per the manufacturers’ instructions.
5. Peel & Seal
Once cured, gently remove the transfer tape. Flip the piece and apply a clear resin coat to the front to seal and give it a glossy shine. This step is optional, only if you desire additional resin.
6. Hang & Enjoy
Attach string or hooks through the upper holes and showcase your completed sun catcher in a sunny window!
