Greetings, friends! Today I am thrilled to present coastal bedroom concepts in collaboration with one of my favorite brands, Serena and Lily. Continue reading for a bedroom transformation featuring a pale blue and neutral coastal color scheme, along with greenery and wicker sconces. Additionally, soft linen bedding layers and tasseled cushions imbue the area with coastal allure! These concepts are ideal for a beach house or cottage but will infuse a beachy essence into your home, regardless of your location.
Our master bedroom skews towards modern coastal with a charcoal headboard, complemented by an abundance of neutrals and textures. Nevertheless, these coastal bedroom concepts are equally applicable for a classic coastal bedroom. I trust you will find this article motivating if you are crafting your own space!

Quality Bedding for a Coastal Bedroom
One of the primary objectives for this coastal bedroom refresh was to elevate our quilt and duvet cover with high-quality bedding. I recently introduced linen bedding to our guest room, and I’ve been envious of our guests ever since! There’s nothing quite like a peaceful bedroom to retreat to after a long day, so I aspired to craft a space that feels like a sanctuary at home.

Both relaxed and opulent, linen is ideal for a coastal bedroom. I opted for Serena and Lily’s Cavallo Linen Duvet Cover in Flax Chambray (similar) along with three euro shams (similar) for our king-size bed. The European linen is soft and striking, while euro pillows serve excellently as backrests while unwinding.
2026 Update: My exact duvet cover and euro shams are no longer available, but the latest Portofino Linen Duvet Cover and Linen Shams are nearly identical!

Moreover, the Sutter Linen Quilt is an item I have been admiring for some time. I am particularly fond of the plush quilted texture and generous dimensions. The quilt is airy yet warm, featuring linen on one side and cotton on the other, making it suitable for year-round use.
Regarding the color scheme for our coastal bedding, I chose to utilize white and natural linen to contrast with our charcoal headboard. Nonetheless, all of these items come in various colors as well!
Coastal Bedroom Color Scheme and Cozy Layers

Who says a coastal bedroom can’t exude coziness? I employed two Cayucos Pillow Covers in Sky/Ivory for accent pillows. They are a soft powder blue adorned with delicate tassels that contribute to a coastal boho aesthetic. As a final touch, I layered Serena and Lily’s Beachcomber Throw in Fog over the duvet. Collectively, the neutral hues and laid-back linen foster a serene environment.

When discussing primary bedrooms, one might be inclined to think, No one sees this area, so why spend on it? However, I have discovered that a tranquil bedroom provides me a place to unwind, enjoy tea, indulge in a book, and release the day’s stresses. This is my happy sanctuary!

Coastal Bedroom Wicker Wall Sconces

Last year, I acquired two of Serena and Lily’s Flynn Wall Sconce in brass featuring wicker shades for our master bedroom. They provide ideal wall lighting for a coastal space! The natural texture of the shade combined
with the oil-treated bronze and brass of the swing arm contributes to establishing a contemporary coastal aesthetic.

Coastal Bedroom Rug and Decor Inspirations

At last, here is our coastal bedroom area rug (size 9′ x 12′ beneath a king bed)! The mix of soft blue and warm neutrals creates a snug foundation for our main bedroom.
Moreover, I adorned the area with faux plants, seagrass storage boxes, coastal landscape artwork, and baskets. While those specific items are no longer in stock, here are some comparable alternatives:
Ideas for Adorning a Coastal Bedroom
Adhere to these principles to craft your very own coastal bedroom!
1. Select a coastal color scheme.
Our bedroom showcases a color scheme of soft blue and neutrals, but other coastal shades worth exploring include navy, teal, green, blush, and peach. I suggest opting for 1-2 colors and 2-3 neutrals.
2. Invest in premium bedding.
For a lavish bedroom, high-grade bedding is essential. Linen is an excellent natural fiber that keeps you comfortable in summer and warm in winter, and becomes softer with each wash. For a more cost-effective choice, opt for cotton sheets.
3. Layer cushions and throws.
I prefer to fold my duvet down twice for a fluffier appearance and drape a blanket over the bed’s end. For cushions, position larger sizes at the back (24″ or 26″) and smaller ones at the front (20″ or 22″).
4. Incorporate coastal decor details.
Finish your coastal bedroom with natural accents such as plants, woven textures, and landscape artwork.
